ORLANDO, FL — State Attorney Monique H. Worrell has appointed veteran public defender and Assistant State Attorney Mark Daniel Wixtrom as her Chief Assistant State Attorney. In this role, Wixtrom will help execute the administration’s vision for the Ninth Judicial Circuit.

His passion and dedication to public service is evident through his approach to legal review and advocacy for victims. I look forward to continuing this great work alongside Mark and supporting him in this new role.”

Wixtrom began his legal career as an Assistant State Attorney at the State Attorney’s Office for the Ninth Judicial Circuit in 1995. For over a decade, Wixtrom gained invaluable experience working in almost every part of the office, including county court, circuit court, central intake, sex crimes and child abuse, and homicide.

Wixtrom left the State Attorney’s Office in 2006 when he was appointed by Governor Bush to the Orange County criminal bench. Following his tenure as a County Court judge, Wixtrom entered private practice before joining the Public Defender’s Office for the Ninth Judicial Circuit. Wixtrom returned to the State Attorney’s Office in 2012 and has held several leadership positions in the office, including Trial Unit Director and Felony Bureau Chief.

He has served as lead attorney in over 120 jury trials and was the presiding judge in over 100 County Court Jury Trials. Wixtrom received his bachelor’s degree in political science with honors from the University of South Florida and his Juris Doctorate with honors from the University of Florida College of Law.
