State Attorney Worrell Announces Conviction of Anthony Todt for First-Degree Murder and Cruelty to Animals

Todt was sentenced to four consecutive sentences of life in prison without the possibility of parole

OSCEOLA COUNTY (April 15, 2022) — State Attorney Monique Worrell announces the conviction of Anthony John Todt who was found guilty of four counts of first-degree murder and one count of animal cruelty in the killing of his wife (Megan), three children (Alek, Tyler and Zoe), and their family dog (Breezy). Following surveillance of the Todt home in January of 2020, authorities discovered the family and their canine unresponsive in the master bedroom of their home.

“There are no words that adequately express the utter tragedy that is this case,” said State Attorney Worrell. “This verdict brings a painful chapter in our community to a close. I know that this result cannot ease the suffering of those who loved Megan, Zoe, Aleksander, and Tyler Todt. My heart goes out to you, and our office will continue to do everything we can to provide access to the services and resources you need to cope with this traumatic loss. I can only hope that the conclusion of this trial will bring you some degree of peace.”

None of this happens without the hard work, persistence, and diligence of our staff, including the trial Assistant State Attorneys (ASAs) who worked unrelentingly to hold Todt accountable for this unspeakable crime. ASA Danielle Pinnell did a remarkable job building this case and ensuring that justice prevailed. Additionally, we have to recognize our Support Staff who walked the family through this process, answered their questions as it related to trial preparation, and worked around the clock to ensure our attorneys had the tools necessary to put on a successful trial.

Following his conviction, Todt was sentenced to four consecutive sentences of life in prison without the possibility of parole, and an additional year for animal cruelty by Criminal Circuit Court Judge Keith Carsten on Thursday, April 14, 2022.

The Ninth Judicial Circuit’s State Attorney’s Office generally refrains from publishing the names of victims. An exception was made in this case in light of the public discourse regarding this incident.
