FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Deputy Sheriff Indicted for Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon or Causing Great Bodily Harm

Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon or Causing Great Bodily Harm is a second-degree felony punishable by up to 15 years or more in prison

ORLANDO, FL, April 1, 2022 — An Orange County Grand Jury indicted Orange County Deputy Sheriff Bruce Stolk Thursday on felony charges.

In accordance with the Office’s Officer-Involved Critical Incident Policy, “where there are factual issues that must be resolved, those cases will be referred to the Grand Jury to determine whether there is sufficient evidence to justify an indictment.”

Stolk is charged with Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon or Causing Great Bodily Harm. The indictment alleges that on or about the 20th day of December, 2020, Stolk knowingly committed a battery upon E.U., and in furtherance thereof, did actually and intentionally touch or strike E.U. against his will, and in commission of said battery, Stolk did use a firearm, a deadly weapon, or did intentionally or knowingly cause great bodily harm, permanent disability or permanent disfigurement to E.U. Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon or Causing Great Bodily Harm is a second-degree felony punishable by up to 15 years or more in prison.

An indictment is not a finding of guilt. It is part of the criminal legal system in which anyone accused of a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt by either a judge or a jury. We will seek whatever outcome justice requires.

Because this case is pending, we will make no further comment on it.
