ORANGE COUNTY (May 12, 2023) — The case involving the shooting that claimed three lives in the Pine Hills community is one of too many tragedies in Central Florida. This senseless shooting has elicited significant interest from the community and across the nation regarding how this case will ultimately be resolved. In keeping with my commitment to transparency and because this is a case of great public importance, I will continue to provide updates on the status of this case.
NINTH JUDICIAL CIRCUIT, FL (May 3, 2023) — As part of our ongoing commitment to transparency in the Ninth Judicial Circuit, the State Attorney’s office is releasing trial conviction data from the first quarter of 2023.
NINTH JUDICIAL CIRCUIT, FL (May 1, 2023) — On Monday, May 8, 2023, State Attorney Monique Worrell will host a full day summit on how to improve our violence prevention initiatives in the Ninth Judicial Circuit. The day will culminate in a public discussion recapping the earlier sessions, hearing from the community about their concerns and priorities, and laying out the critical next steps elected officials must take to help reduce violence.
ORANGE COUNTY (April 28, 2023) — Today, April 28, 2023, an SAO9 employee was contacted by State Committeewoman Debbie Galvin requesting at least two cases where State Attorney Worrell had failed to prosecute cases to get justice for victims of human trafficking crimes. Ms. Galvin went on to tell the employee that “this is happening all over the country where these prosecutors are not following the law,” and that she was supposed to provide this information to the governor’s office last week, but, needed to have it over to them by Monday, May 1st.
ORANGE COUNTY, FL (March 20, 2023) — After a thorough and lengthy review, the State Attorney’s Office for the Ninth Judicial Circuit has concluded that we cannot move forward with filing charges against Jeremiah Cundiff in connection with the Jones High School shooting that claimed the life of Mr. Gamaine Brown on November 12, 2022. There is simply no reliable evidence that would support a conviction in this case.
