ORANGE COUNTY, FL (August 24, 2026) — Today’s verdict represents accountability for a horrific act of violence that forever changed the lives of innocent victims, their families, and our entire community. My heart remains with the victims who lost their lives, those who survived, and every family member and loved one who has carried the pain of that night.

While no verdict can undo the suffering caused by these crimes, this verdict ensures that the defendant is held accountable for the choices he made and the devastating consequences of those choices.

We also recognize that tragedy has touched the defendant’s family. They, too, have suffered a profound loss as a result of his actions and will live with the consequences of his decisions for the rest of their lives. That does not diminish the accountability he must face, but it is a reminder that violence leaves a lasting impact far beyond the person who commits it.

I am proud of the prosecutors who handled this case with determination, compassion, and professionalism. I also want to thank the Orlando Police Department, investigators, first responders, and every law enforcement professional who worked tirelessly to bring this case before a jury.

Most importantly, today is about the victims. We will never forget the lives lost, the lives forever changed, or the strength shown by the survivors and their families throughout this process.
