State Attorney’s Office Appoints Ryan Whitaker as Chief of Domestic Violence Unit
Orlando, FL – The State Attorney’s Office for the Ninth Judicial Circuit has appointed Ryan Whitaker as the new Chief of the Domestic Violence Unit.
Ryan brings extensive prosecutorial experience and a strong commitment to serving victims of domestic violence. In her new role, she will lead a dedicated team of prosecutors focused on holding offenders accountable while ensuring that survivors receive the support they need as they navigate the justice system.
Since November 2018, Ryan has served as an Assistant State Attorney with the Ninth Judicial Circuit, and she previously worked as a prosecutor in the 7th Circuit for two years. She recently held the position of Felony Deputy Bureau Chief. Throughout her career, she has worked in several bureaus within the office, including County, Juvenile, Intake, Felony, Domestic Violence, Sex Crimes, Special Victims, and Human Trafficking. She has also served as the first or second chair in over 30 trials.
In addition to her trial experience, Ryan has built strong relationships with law enforcement agencies, victim advocacy organizations, non-profits, and the broader legal community. These connections are essential for effective prosecution in domestic violence cases. Her institutional knowledge and dedication to mentoring new attorneys make her well-suited to lead the Domestic Violence Unit.
“Domestic violence is one of the most devastating crimes in our community, and it demands both skill and compassion from those who prosecute these cases” said State Attorney Worrell. “Ryan Whitaker has demonstrated time and again that she possesses both qualities. Her leadership will strengthen our efforts in this area and ensure that survivors know they have a voice and an advocate in the courtroom.”
