FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

STATE ATTORNEY MONIQUE WORRELL ANNOUNCES SENTENCING FOR ROAD RAGE INCIDENT

ORLANDO, FL. – On Thursday, May 8th, an Orlando man was sentenced to 50 years in the Department of Corrections with a 25-year mandatory minimum sentence following a conviction for his involvement in a road rage incident and shooting into an occupied vehicle on East Colonial Drive in January 2024. The individual fired multiple shots at the victim after the victim allegedly cut him off in morning traffic. One of the shots struck the victim in the head, killing him. The individual’s actions endangered innocent lives and brought trauma to an entire family.

This case is yet another tragic example of how quickly heated tempers in traffic can escalate into gun violence. Gun violence continues to plague our communities, claiming lives and tearing apart families. Gun violence prevention is a key to making our community a safer place for all. Thanks to the Orlando Police Department for their swift response and our prosecution team’s diligent work, justice has been served. There is zero tolerance for gun violence in our community, and we remain fully committed to prosecuting those who put lives at risk and to standing with the victims and their families with integrity, compassion, and resolve.
