The Missing Middle Juvenile Justice Initiative focuses on the increase in violent crime committed by juveniles, the system’s inability to address it, and the “missing middle” in how these cases are handled. Through a series of Town Halls, the initiative brings our community together for honest, ongoing dialogue. It creates space for real conversation, not just about the challenges young people face, but about building real, community-driven solutions grounded in accountability, opportunity, and support.

This is more than a series of events. These conversations bring together community members, educators, families, and justice system stakeholders to address the root causes of juvenile crime and identify solutions before young people become further involved in the system. It’s an opportunity to ensure that voices are heard, perspectives are valued, and the people closest to these issues help shape the path forward. Since launching, the series has grown through multiple sessions, each one building on the last, listening, sharing, and working together toward stronger and safer outcomes for the young people who need it most.

The Missing Middle remains one of State Attorney Worrell’s top priorities, and the office is committed to keeping this conversation — and this work — going.
