Assistant State Attorneys Erin Favorit, right, and Jessica Lee recently saw a guilty verdict against Daniel M. Scott of Orlando on charges of Robbery with a Firearm, Fleeing and Attempting to Elude a Law Enforcement Officer, and Resisting an Officer without Violence.
Evidence showed that Scott, 25, entered a business with an accomplice who pointed a handgun at two people while demanding money and cell phones. After getting more than $3,000 in merchandise and money, Scott fled the area. Police were notified of an armed robbery at the business shortly before Scott was seen driving at a high speed and weaving in and out of traffic. Officers pursued Scott, who increased speed to more than 100 miles per hour and nearly caused several accidents. He eventually abandoned the car and was captured.
Scott, who is a prison release reoffender, will be sentenced to Life in the Department of Corrections by Judge Thomas Turner.
